Will Nashville SC Enter MLS in 2019?

We all knew it was coming the moment Nashville Metro Council voted 31-6 to approve a stadium at the Fairgrounds for a MLS team. Nevertheless, today was a huge party and celebration for the entire Nashville SC family. Lost in all the joy was MLS Commissioner Don Garber’s statement that Nashville SC will enter MLS in either 2019 or 2020! Given the new stadium isn’t supposed to be ready until 2021 that means Nashville SC will surely play its first season (or two) at Nissan Stadium (home of the Tennessee Titans). The stadium has hosted the USMNT on several occasions and Tottenham Manchester City friendly last summer. This is just amazing. The other selected city might not have a stadium ready for play in 2019 or might not have one as desirable as Nashville. Add in the fact that Nashville was clearly the city MLS wanted the most (they are delaying announcing the second city until next year) and it makes sense Nashville might very likely join the league in 2019. Can Nashville SC build the club fast enough to field a team that soon? Given their quick rise from amateur team to MLS, I doubt that will be an issue. Either way MLS is coming to the Music City. It is just a matter of how soon and we are thinking 2019 is the date.
